26 Feb A collection made with love
We are pleased to announce that we have expanded our first Wamma collection—a line of handcrafted swimwear that speaks to the beauty of nature, a passion for marine life, and the calm and peace we feel when seeing and hearing the ocean and water in general.
This collection is inspired by the world of the Warao people, who have a rich culture built on unique beliefs and customs that go beyond the merely material, placing nature in all its splendor at the center.
This is how most of the names for the pieces in this collection came about.
NAWA (skirt), YAKERA (happy), YAMINA (jasmine), IBOMA (youth), SIBORORI (beautiful woman), DAURA (beauty), EKÉ (cheerful), DANI (mother), GUAYUCO (the tiny garment used before colonization to cover private parts; the Spanish translation is guayuco and in Warao it is JIAKAJU), WAJA (beach), DOMU (bird), JEBURA (green), SIMOU (pink).
It is an honor for us to keep this community alive and present, even if only through these terms, because we believe that respect for diversity is essential for progress.
